Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What exactly is Poppy Blum?
An AI event-design assistant that turns a theme into a cohesive concept board: a hero render and color palette, an itemized list of the items you’ll need with estimated prices, and step-by-step build and DIY guidance. There’s also a Canvas Studio where you can arrange your own layout from a curated decor library or your own uploaded assets.
Do I need design experience to use it?
No. Poppy Blum is built for DIY and Professional planners. You just answer a few guided questions about your event, like theme, guest count, and budget, and it generates a complete concept you can refine. There is no prompt to write.
How does the AI generator work?
You do not write a prompt. Instead, you answer a short series of guided questions, like occasion, theme, color mood, and budget, and we turn your answers into the AI instructions for you behind the scenes. From there, we structure a cohesive color palette, decoration concepts, and a materials breakdown, then render a hero visualization of the scene. No design or AI experience required.
Materials & pricing
Do I get a real item list?
Yes. Each design breaks down into specific items with estimated quantities, plus structural pieces like backdrop stands and framing, so you know exactly what to buy and build with.
Where do I buy the items?
Poppy Blum is vendor-agnostic. Price estimates and links come from Google Shopping across standard consumer retailers like Amazon, Etsy, party suppliers, and more. There’s no store lock-in and no wholesale account required.
Are the prices accurate?
Treat every price as an estimate, not a quote. They come from Google Shopping the moment you save your board, and because they are real retailer listings, prices and stock shift over time. Always confirm at the retailer’s checkout before you buy.
Do the assets I upload get added to the item list?
When you run Save & Get Materials, uploads on your board appear as draft rows in the list. Add a product description for each one you want included, and we use that text to search real retailers. Until you describe an upload, it stays on your design but is not counted toward your materials cap or price estimates.
Sharing & exporting
Can I export my plan?
Yes, as a polished PDF that includes your hero render, color palette, decoration concepts, DIY steps, and the full item list with estimated prices. PDF export is included on the Event Pass and Pro plans.
Can I share my designs with clients or helpers?
Today, the simplest way to share is to export the PDF and send it. Read-only share links of your materials and designs are coming soon.
Is there collaborative editing?
We do not offer collaborative editing. Editing is single-user only. Share the exported PDF with your crew or client if collaborative work is needed.
Pricing & account
Is there a free option, and what are its limits?
Yes. Create a free account for 3 lifetime watermarked AI concept generations. The free tier includes up to 3 saved concept boards and a preview of the top 3 items, but not PDF export or the Canvas Studio. Paid plans unlock those. Landing page example boards are curated demos, not live AI output.
What do the paid plans cost?
- Event Pass: $7.99 one-time, 10 AI generations and 10 material sourcing runs within a 90-day window, unlimited canvas saves, and PDF export.
- Pro: $19.99/month or $149/year, 30 AI generations and 30 sourcing runs per month, plus unlimited events, canvases, and PDF exports.
See the full pricing page for details.
Can I buy more AI generations or sourcing runs on an Event Pass?
- Yes, while your Event Pass is active, you can top up anytime: $1.99 adds 1 AI generation, or $1.99 adds a pack of 3 material sourcing runs (1–10 purchases at a time).
- Top-ups are added as soon as payment completes.
- They expire with your current pass. Topping up doesn’t extend your 90-day window.
- Add-ons are Event Pass only. Pro plans reset to 30 generations and 30 sourcing runs every month, so they don’t need them.
Can I cancel or pause after my event is over?
- Event Pass: for a one-off event, this is the easy answer. It’s a one-time $7.99 purchase that simply expires after 90 days, with no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.
- Pro: cancel anytime from Account → Manage Subscription, which opens the secure Stripe billing portal. You keep access through the end of the paid period.
Can I get a refund?
It depends on the purchase:
- Event Pass: full refund if you email us within 48 hours of buying and haven’t used any AI credits.
- Pro Annual: pro-rated for unused months if you request it within 30 days and have used fewer than two billing months.
- Pro Monthly and add-on purchases (AI credits and sourcing run packs) are not refundable.
See our refund policy for full details, or email hello@poppyblum.com with the subject “Refund Request.”
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account yourself anytime. Open Account settings, scroll to the Danger zone, and choose Delete account. After one confirmation, we permanently remove your profile, every event you’ve created, and all the concept boards and canvas designs attached to them. Any active subscription is canceled immediately. This cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep first. Prefer we handle it? Email hello@poppyblum.com.
Privacy & data
Do you use my data to train AI models?
No. Poppy Blum has a zero-training-data policy: your event details, designs, and personal information are never used to train AI models. Your data is sent to our third-party AI providers solely to generate the output you asked for, and isn’t retained by them for training under our API agreements. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Who owns the designs I create?
You do. You keep full ownership of your event details, designs, canvas layouts, and anything you upload. You grant Poppy Blum only a limited license to store, display, and process that content so we can run the Service. See our Terms of Service.
Do you sell or share my personal data?
We don’t sell your personal data, and we never share what you create, such as your designs, boards, or shopping lists, with an advertiser. We do advertise Poppy Blum on Meta, Google, and Pinterest, and when ads are running and you’ve chosen Accept all in the cookie banner, we measure whether a signup came from one of them. That signup event is the only thing we send them. If you reject cookies, or we aren’t running ads, nothing is sent and no advertising cookie is set. The data sent to our AI and pricing providers is limited to what’s needed to generate your output; it never includes your email, password, or payment details. See our Privacy Policy for specifics.
What AI does Poppy Blum use?
Poppy Blum uses trusted third-party AI providers to power concept generation, hero imagery, and canvas AI features. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what data is sent and how it’s handled.
Good to know
Are the AI-generated designs guaranteed to stand up?
No. Poppy Blum gives you optimized structural guidelines and material lists, but real-world variables (weight distribution, wind for outdoor setups, and anchor or rigging points) require your judgment. Build structural pieces with care, and consult a professional when in doubt.
Can I use Poppy Blum for paid client work?
Yes. Paid plans remove the watermark, so your concept boards, item lists, and PDF exports are client-ready. One note: exports aren’t white-labeled. They carry Poppy Blum branding, and there’s no custom-logo or agency mode.
Does the Canvas Studio work on mobile?
The Canvas Studio is desktop-only (1024px and wider); phones and tablets show an “open on desktop” prompt. Concept generation and item pricing work on any device. Only the drag-and-drop canvas needs a larger screen.
Can I use my own assets in the Canvas Studio?
Yes. You can upload your own images to the Canvas Studio and arrange them alongside the curated decor in the asset Library. When you run Save & Get Materials, uploads on your board appear as draft rows. Add a product description for each one you want included in your search.
